300Today, we proudly announce that we have reached the milestone 300th very private Beta user. We would like to thank all of our Beta testers for their amazing feedback and suggestions.

Each Beta users has created his own Wixi, choosing an avatar and background, uploading files, and with only a few clicks, they were able to customize their Wixi as their personal homepage. Of course, these 300 brave Beta testers must fight every day against bugs, and are ready to accept this challenge, knowing that the Wixi team is improving the system every day, struggling for the freedom of posting media files online.

Wixi’s team is based in two separate locations: Buenos Aires, Argentina and Paris, France. On these two fronts, separated by 10 522 Km, Wixi members are also fighting in the first lines in order to eliminate the enemy - bugs - and build a path to their troops so that thousands of people can enjoy their Wixis.

Buenos Aires is the most European of all Latin American cities. With its wide boulevards, leafy parks, grand buildings and varied culture and nightlife, the city is reminiscent of Paris or Barcelona. The city is really a pleasant place to walk around with countless art galleries, theatres and museums, as well as fine restaurants. Buenos Aires is also very famous for another art form: Tango ! Shall we dance ?

Unfortunately, it’s not yet time to party. Our great commander in chief, Arthur, moved to Buenos Aires, to work cloesly with his developers on several performance improvements, including caching actions onto the file system, making Ajax requests faster, compressing Java script files…all these to make the Wixi experience smoother. We also have ordered several more servers that will be dedicated to streaming, Web or synchronization of sessions. In one word, we want to make Wixi better every day, so that several thousands of users can have their Wixi and connect to the service, playing media, downloading files, sharing content with their friends…

Hopefully yet, during the previous battles, we haven’t had any casualty, and we are still recruiting soldiers to join us. We are especially thrilled with the requests we’ve received from our visionary troops with suggestions for building a bigger and better Wixi service.

We thank you all for your patience, and want to reassure you - you will soon receive the invitation you deserve, if of course you have signed up to Wixi Beta. :-)

P.S.: Our photo reporter would like to share with you the following media - check it out!

‘Drag and drop’ and ‘From the web’ upload methods are disabled for me. Are these upcoming features?

Is it possible to copy items from a folder in wixi to another?

To Sridhar:

These two methods of upload are still under development, and will be added as son as possible. We have put the icons on the upload window already so you can have a shot of what is incoming on Wixi!

Yes, you can copy files instead of moving them by the following procedure:

1) Maintain the “Shift” key pressed on your keyboard.
2) Drag a file and drop it where you want to copy it.
3) After releasing your left mouse button onto the icon, unpress the “Shift” key.

To learn more how to use Wixi, you can take a look at the “Tips and Tricks” application in your sidebar.

Best
